I moved my little GTP from his tub into a Bars cage (12x12x16) a while ago. Everything seemed to be working fine except he would not use the perches. I used the same size that he was using in the tub (same size as he is) - and tried getting some different sizes - and he continues to perch everywhere besides his perches.
When I installed the perch supports I guess I overdid the glue and they sunk down a couple of inches while drying overnight and instead of being towrds the top of the cage they are more in the middle - I am assuming that the reason he doesn't use them is because he wants to be as high up as he can get - so I took all the trees and vines out of the cage hoping he would use the perches until I got some installed higher up - well he perched on the perch support.
I've read that he could have spinal problems if his perches aren't right - is this true? And does anyone have any suggestions as to how to install some perches higher up - I'm afraid I'll put the supports as high up as they will go and he'll stil choose the top of the support over the perch. Or is he ok using the vines and bushes?
Help!!!
