me and my girlfirned recently purchesed a iguana. ive had igunas when i was younger, one for over 7 years that got well over 5 feet long so i know something about them. Now when we got this iguana, the pet store swore he was as old as the rest of the last shipment(10 weeks by now) and the same size as them when he arrived there, but sence then he grew to almost 3x the size as the rest (hes about 3 feet long to the tip of his tale). Also ive never seen a iguana in my life with so much blue; his whole head, the sides near the neck, and even the tale and arms have a blue tint. When hes about to shed his hands and feet turn yellow, also something ive never seen. Is this a green iguana or something else? My next question is how can i get him to go under his basking light, i built him a very large cage and ever sence he wont go under it. If anyone could answer these two questions that would be great

Your iguana is still considered a "giant green iguana" no matter his color. My big boy is brownish orange and my female is green with a lot of turqoise on her chest and forearms. You can see several pictures on our site of different igs. They vary in size and color.
How long have you had him? If it's only been a few days it could be he's scared and is just hiding. You can set up a heating pad underneath a towell in the area he stays in now. Eventually, unless he is sick or something, he'll meander up under his lights.
Definitely get him to a vet asap. He needs a check up and a fecal done. It's imperative you have a good vet on hand anyway. Also, it's a good idea to purchase a good reference book on iguanas. I like Iguana's For Dummies. Good luck! JN
