Geckos of Texas

easttexas Sep 26, 2005 06:35 PM

Sorry have no pic. I just moved back to NE Texas specifically the Sulphur Springs area. I have found a gecko here that most pic's reffer to as the Med. Gecko, however Enature.com reffers to it as the Texas Banded Gecko, which does not occurr this far North. Both pics. are similar is there anyone in this area that might be able to help me cross out one of the two or cross out a subspecies between the two..
Any help would be greatful..Thanks Etexas

What you are seeing is a mediteranean house gecko, or turkish gecko. For future reference, one way you can tell the difference is that mediteranean house geckos can climb glass. Bandeds cant. Also, mediteranean house geckos don't have eyelids. Banded geckos do.

hope this helps

Not to mention they look totally different from eachother...

it gets confusing for a unexperienced person though. I breed banded geckos and i could never get them mixed up.
