Disease? Fungus?

I keep a few turtles in an outside enclosure and 4 of them have a rusty-orange color on their skin. One of the turtles has it all over the front of him. It comes off real easily but i wanna know how to keep it off and why it's there in the first place. Thanks.

Its a red algae bloom. This happen to most small bodies of water during the summer when the water temperature reaches the right temps. Makes the bottom of your boat look bad also.

so even though it's on the skin and or the shell it's just algae and not too big of a threat??

Keep the water changes going regularly. Red algae can "spoil" the water. Test it with a fish. If the fish stays alive more than a day, you are fine. If it is dead the next day, them the water needs refreshed. hopefully the turtle will leave the fish alone until the test is done.
