...gophers & bulls? (Let along Pines!). I'll admit, my ecology education was 25 years ago, but the two terms were interchangeable then - at least in Tucson (then the north central part of the Sonorans' range).
I just bought my 1st (cb) Albino San Diego (non Applegate) - so is it a Bull or a Gopher?
What are they now calling the difference between Bulls, Gophers & Pines? - locale? Thanks!

Your Applegate is a gopher snake.

Not an Applegate, though - a different line.

The bullsnake is _Pituophis catenifer sayi_. All other subspecies of _Pituophis catenifer_ are gopher snakes. The Louisiana pine is a separate species, _Pituophis ruthveni_. All the other pine snakes are subspecies of _Pituophis melanoleucus_.

Thanks Mr Hollander - I was hoping you would be one of the responders! I guess mine is a gopher, being the San Diego variety (a beauty of an albino too!) Thanks again!
