shinysnakeskin Sep 27, 2005 06:14 AM

sorry if this sounds dumb but im not sure so here it goes...
if you breed pastel to pastel you will get a super.... right?
then what happens when you breed super to super? do you get a cinny?
and cinny to cinny makes those black pewter balls?
can someone explain this to me?
lol thank you

If you breed super to super, you get all supers.

The only way to get a cinnamon is from another animal carrying the cinnamon mutation. Cinnamon x cinnamon produces 1/4 super cinnys. Cinnamon to pastel produces 1/4 pewter.

>if you breed pastel to pastel you will get a super.... right?

Theoretically, a quarter of the babies would be homozygous (super) pastels, half the of babies would be pastels (heterozygous pastels), and a quarter of the babies would be normal. Actual results would vary somewhat from the expected.

>then what happens when you breed super to super?

All the babies would be supers. I don't know whether this has actually been done yet, but that has been the result with other codominant mutant genes in a variety of species.

No worries- the name pastel got tagged to allot of the co-doms out there... When it comes to Pastel Jungles, Blondes & Lemons- you can mix and match to get a super.

With the Cinnys & black pastels, the same is also true (between these two types of "pastel". But take a Cinny of black to the above morphs you get Pewters, not supers. So far, so good right?

Then there's taking a Pewter back to a Black pastel (Ian G did this) that produced- Super form of the Black, some regular pastels and a cool little number that has been named the Silver Bullet. Hope this helps...
