WHATS THE DEAL WITH HARLEQUINS? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

JaredHorenstein Sep 27, 2005 08:54 AM

I have seena bunh of stuff on the classifieds and forums labeled as HARLEQUINS...........but I have yet to see anyone come forth and say...........Here is my breeder animal.....and the babies it has produced.......

Lots of pictures of snakes with weird blushing here and there........but no solid proof of genetics.......is this going to become the next yellowbelly.........where anyone with a weird looking snake will be trying to pass em off as Harlequins?

WHat makes a Harlequin?

Here is a wierd snake I had about 8 years ago...........looks like what others are calling em......

No disrespect to the Hunters Guides......but that is helpfull in identifying Proven morphs.......or better yet....it is helpfull in identifying certain characteristics of those morphs........

My question is this...........What is a Harlequin????.....if it is anything at all......and who has LEGIT animals that are reproducing the look...........

All I see is a new "target market" for scammers........

Any info from anyone with the aniamls?

Jared

Hey Jared,
How dare you lol! I agree too... To my understanding are Harlequin Ball is a DESCRIPTION of a certain pattern. Nothing has be proven as of yet. I am going to do a guide on the Pattern, but it is hard since so many people are callimg anything a Harlequin. From what i understand a Herlequin is an animal with striping and odd blushing coming off the stripe...

This is an example of the Harlequin PATTERN (from what ive gathered)... I will try to do a guide soon once i get enough pics.

Harlequin = Goblin thats what I belive.
- same, same.. and supergoblins are pure white.

I have seen many pics of "Harlequins" and "Goblins"
and they looks the same to me.

Jonas1 Sep 27, 2005 03:53 PM

Phantoms are also "the same" kind of morph as H and G,
just a bit darker. Goblins can be more greenish.

Cinnamons, Black Cinnamons and het red axhantic are also the
same "kind of snake". Think about it... some with more melanin, thats all.

Jonas,

I agree that Phantoms and Harlequins share characteristics... now prove it people (I don't have any of either morph!).
BUT, Het. Red Axanthics are NOT the same as Cinnamon Pastels, or Black Pastels. I will bet anything on that one. If you doubt me, please consider that the "super" form of the Cinnamon Pastel (and Black Pastel) is a patternless dark brown snake and the "super" form of the Het. Red Axanthic is a Red and Tan fully patterened snake, very different. Please see some more detail on my site and a link to Ralph's Red Axanthic there as well (I don't have one yet as there are only 4... but, I'm working on it).

Thanks,

But I do belive that Goblins, Harleqins and Phantoms are the same, and also Mr Davids snake "the Freak". - same, same but different.

And that Cinnamons and Black pastels are the same. Its
just a matter of melanin. Nothing else.

Well ralph bred goblins to phantoms and got no super, he got a cross wich he could tell was a cross of goblin and phantom the super goblin is an ivory ralph proved that this year and the super phantom is nothing like an ivory. That would make them not the same wouldn't it? Although I have not seen a phantom in person from the pictures they don't look like the harlequins posted they look more like plainer mojaves.

Cinnamons and black pastels yes both produce a black patternless snake in the super form but the red axanthic is totally different. They are not the same kind of snake!
