glass thickness for a terrarium

cs_johnson Sep 27, 2005 12:04 PM

I'm planning on bulding a 6'x4'x2' cage for some lizards. When ordering glass, what thickness is recommended? It's a balance between strength and weight. I don't want it to be too heavy, nor do I want it to break from the lightest bumb.

for that size of terrarium you should use at least 1/2 in glass, but it will be really hevy...

I have a 7 x 2 x 3 ft aquarium, and just the glass weigths more than 600 lbs...

if you don´t want it that hevy, you should try plexy or wood...

hope this can help

best wishes
