Heating the cage?

vince3267 Sep 27, 2005 12:22 PM

I built a pretty nice cage recently. It 7' long 4' high 3' wide
, but i'm havint a problem keeping the temps up! Especially in there substrate (it gets chilly at the bottom) My tegus sleep all the time and i'm starting to worry. They did hybernate last year with burt. But i dont want them to this year.

My question: What bulbs can i buy that don't use alot of power, but push out a lot of heat!

Also, i cant get them on a schedule feeding due to the temps. I recently tried pinkies and they didn't even look at them.

under the substrate should be a little cooler. and if they hibernated last year you may just have to deal with it. sometimes they just do what they want.

I don't mind if they do hibernate, but im afraid of what i have heard about them hibernating and food roting in the belly! if they do hibernate, what temps should the cage be?
