Where to get Crickets From????

dannygirl8 Sep 27, 2005 02:53 PM

I live in an affected area of Hurricane Katrina. I have a beardie about 10 mos old. Back in May she decided to brumate (the vet checked her and she was fine). We tried to wake her up, but she really wasn't interested. So she didn't eat for the last few months. We had to evacuate for the hurricane and naturally we took her with us. Well she decided it was time to wake up. Now she is hungry and we can't find any live crickets in or around our area (most businesses are closed). I would like to mail order them but my computer at work (that had listed favorite cricket suppliers) fried and I don't remember who I ordered them from. Can someone please tell me where to order some live crickets that have accurate counts. We are just now (after 4 weeks) starting to receive mail. Our home is fine, so we are blessed. I would like to order 1000. She is eating some greens, but not much. Thanks for any help. I hope I can order them today. Thanks!

You can try www.americancricketranch.com I've never ordered from them but when I met them at the reptile show in Sac this year they seemed really nice and I've never heard any complaints about them.

I get mine from Premium Crickets in GA. They are close to you and a reliable supplier, ship priority mail and I get mine on Monday that were shipped on Friday - and I live in NH. I am on their "contract crickets" plan (smaller, more frequent orders) and think they are just great if you only have one or two herps, their contract deall is just right. Owner, Mike, is very nice and easy to reach via phone.

Best of luck to you and glad you did not suffer any serious loss!

Thank you all for all the help. I ordered them from reptilefood and had them overnighted and got them today. My beardie is going to be so happy this evening when I get home with them. Thanks again. I'll keep a list of these names for the future. Thank you all !!! Diane

Usually when I've ordered crickets in the past, they have a lot that are dead and you can see the count is way low. This order I got looked like more than 1000 and with the exception of a tiny few, all were alive and healthy. I will continue to buy from them. Thanks

denise1 Sep 29, 2005 05:11 PM

I use Millbrook Cricket Farms...I call the 800 number before 3pm and get the crickets the next day...never had a problem and they are healthy...and I receive more than the rquested 1000, once my order came in short but the shipping company had slightly crushed the box and crickets escaped...I called them and they shipped out a new order free of charge the next day, they are helpful and corteous...I tried reptilefood.com but they kept shipping too fe crickets and one box even arrived with only ten alive and they were barely alive although most people have said they've had no problems...I also used to get several spiders in with each shipment...Good Luck...
