i would like some opinions

i have been gathering info about bearded dragons for about a week now and am starting to think that a bearded dragon would be a good pet for me to get. i have 30 leopard geckos and i was looking for something new and something that wanted to be out and about more than a leo, i think i found what i was looking for. i won't even consider getting one until i research at least a month total.

i am wodering if someone could get me a picture of an adult normal BD??? because i won't have any more than $150-$180 to spend on a beardy and i just think that an adult would be better to start with, what do you guys think??? is an adult better than a baby to start with??? would you guys recommend getting a normal??? or would you guys recommend a different morph??? i want the most color and prettiest dragon for my price range. if you recommend a morph could you include a photo too?? thanx.

if i bought just one male would a 4x2x3 cage be too tall or would that cage be good??

how many hides should one adult beardy have???

is a female nicer than a male or is there no real differnce???

thanx and sorry for all the questions!

If it's pics you want, check out my web site as well as scores of others listed on kingsnake. Adults are less active and easier to handle, they require less protein and they are bigger so they eat more. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so color is up to you.

An adult Beardie needs at least 6 square feet of floor space so they can thermoregulate properly and have some room to move around.

Beardies are mostly terrestrial so climbing is not essential. Make sure the UV light is close enough to the ground for the UV to reach the Beardie (18". One hide is enough.

A male will be less trouble, wont't dig up the cage, won't get egg-bound...

BTW, sorry we don't have any beardies for sale at this time.

If you want pics, there are tons of them in the bearded dragon section of the kingsnake photo gallery. And as for which age to get them at, baby beardies are usually a lot less expensive. Have at least a 55 gallon tank. The ones at the pet stores are good because they have ones made for reptiles, so they are long and wide. Just remember, between the setup, the animal, the food and everything else, it will cost a lot of money, more than 150 dollars...

For 150-180$ you will probably not have enough money to get the set with an adult beardie. I think that an adult is just as easy as a baby to care for as long as you get a healthy one. I would recomend any color that you can afford color does not effect there temperment at all. It depends on the 4x2x3 cage is it lengthxwidthxheight if it os your dragon would be fine in it. 1 adult bearded dragon should have 1 hide.
