Their defense when being attacked is to ooze blood out of their joints, which is very irritating. I'm not sure if it's toxic, but it wouldn't suprise me. This is why they're so brightly colored! If you harrass one enough you can see it, be aware that their blood is a yellowish color.
Cherries, I don't see why not .
