Feeding baby childrens python

system_of_a_down Sep 27, 2005 04:58 PM

The petstore I work at just got a baby childrens python, the breeder they got it from said it was eating 2 Pinkies a feeding(I think this is highly unlikely because the snake is only maybe a foot) But since we got it,it hasn't eaten once. Any thoughts?

I have little experience, but

1) Call the breeder if you haven't and get his suggestions. See what he was feeding it. For example, was he feeding live and perhaps you are trying to feed f/t.

2) Check and make sure the have a proper envirnoment setup. Children's need a warm end with a temp of 85 F, and a basking area of 90 F if possible. Make sure you have hides on both the warm and cool ends. Customer traffic may be stressing the snake, so perhaps you could cover the cage. That will make it hard to sell, but you wouldn't sell a snake that wasn't eating anyway would you?
