soaking

im wondering if it is ok to soak my ball python, i never see him soaking in his water dish.. my other concern is he ate a rat pup 8 days ago, then another rat pup four days ago and i havent seen him to poop yet, he isnt showing any signs of distress, im just wondering if i should soaking him to maybe relax him to go?
