I have fed my beardie those canned silkworm pupae by exo-terra. I only fed them as a treat, definatly not as a staple. You should still fed live insects. Did they ever reek too, but he seemed to like them.

this is my typical responce to questions like this...

1. Would you rather eat spaghetti-o's OR real spaghetti with meatballs like you momma used to make?

2. Do you like canned veggies or fresh veggies?

And the most important question is....Which is healthier? you make the choice....if fresh veggies or insects are not always accessible, then you can use the canned stuff.

I would stick with fresh greens and insects, using pellets as toppings to fresh salads and for short trips away from home (ie weekends, no longer than two days, any longer and somebody should be coming in to feed your pets daily). pellets normally are pretty well balanced but giving no real studies (at least none that I am aware of) have been done on the long term completeness of any prepared bearded dragon diet, can't say for sure if they are completely healthy. I do know (mostly by common sense) dried food requires the availability of fresh water for the dragon to drink.

Not really sure those canned insects are good at all. They are expensive, stink, and are full of chemicals (preservatives).
