Hi john,
My female baja laid 4 eggs this morning but not in her nest box,my bluestar also done this so i'm curious if you know why.The temps in the box are about 93 at the very bottom of the substrate and i don't know what the humidity is but it is high.I'm asking you john because you seem to be the 1 with the most eggs in the incubator,i cant even get that far!My bluestar is ready to drop again so i'd appreciate any input or veiws that you have. Also how resistant are collard eggs to drying out as mines were pretty dry by the time i found them.
thanks and see yah

I think 93 F is too hot for the temps where you want her to lay. I have the same problem this year. One of my bluestar females, has done that twice now. I think the eggs were infertile, so that also may be the reason she did not bother to take the care in burying them. They do dry out rather quicky when laid on the surface. The sand tends to pull the moisture right out of them.

If they eggs are pretty yellow inside, they are probably infertile. Try cooler temps for the egg laying area. Also, none of my eggs have hatched yet...I have not checked them today yet though

Thanks for asking Jason,

John Eddington

Thanks for the info and i did think that the temps were too high so i moved the box further from the bask site anyway,a couple of the eggs did look kinda yellow but 2 were crystal white, either way i'll know in a couple of days because they were all pretty sunk in.OOOOOOHHHHHHh i wish i could hatch these just once!!!!!
see yah
