Let's see some pattern freaks ............ Non-Jungles

Morgans Boas Sep 27, 2005 11:41 PM

No offense to the Jungles, they are in a high class all on their own. Maybe we'll start an all Jungle post too. Let's see those natural (or maybe un-natural) occurring abberants, stripers, polka dots, and whatevers that always make me drool.
Here's one that will be arriving here in the morning. I purchased this male yearling at the Aneheim NARBC show from Mike&Stephanie @ Basically Boas. He's from their '04 Abby litter, and I'm so anxious to get him . These pics were taken at the show, and beleive me , you'll be seeing more of him . . LOL
Take Care, David/Morgans Boas

This little female was the only one that looked this way in a litter I produced last season.

RuBeN14 Sep 28, 2005 02:22 AM

That thing got more attention then any other snake on the table.
I guess everyone has a price uh. Nice buy. That male is for sure a killer! Good luck with him!

Stripes are considered pretty "common",so here's something that impressed me as "unusual"...he's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Over the last eight years, this is the only one like this I've seen,so it's either a random fluke,or a new, seemingly spontaneous mutation.

How have you been? How is my striper doing over there? Ready to ship yet?

Rainshadow Sep 29, 2005 12:57 AM

You didn't even bring me a T-shirt from Peru! (loved the pictures btw!)

SuppleReptiles Sep 29, 2005 01:34 AM

I will fly back down there and get you a shirt! I would love to see some new pics BTW! How big is she now?

Rainshadow Sep 29, 2005 01:01 AM

Just when I think I know what Harlequins are "supposed" to look like....I get a curve to left field!
-----

ChrisGilbert Sep 28, 2005 01:55 PM

if the Harliquin gene is a polygenic mutation? You may have talked about this before, but I was curious as to your thoughts on the subject.

Rainshadow Sep 29, 2005 12:52 AM

"Multi-allelic"where there is a specific gene set at work (regardless if there are two,or,twelve!)as opposed to "polygenic",which would be more like a pastel, where there is no real specific catalyst,or genetic anomoly present,or even a distinct bloodline, but rather a broad homogenization process of selective breeding & continuous reintroduction involving unrelated, similar looking animals, and resulting in an overall refinement in appearence over successive generations.
-----

ChrisGilbert Sep 29, 2005 12:05 PM

So you think it is something like a combination of mutations, multiple alleles working together.

A very complex genotype for a simpler phenotype. It makes sense, expecially when one looks at the variety of outcomes from the breedings.

Thanks!

I had sold off this entire line a few years back and kept just the 2.2 group that I have today. They might be breedable this season!

I'm pretty proud of these two.
Maybe I'll be able to add a pair of your hypos this next season, since I missed out on them last season.
