Ants?

jleahl Sep 28, 2005 07:29 AM

OK, now I'm freaked...I just read an old post about ants biting a frog. I have noticed some of those tiny black ants in my White's tank. I"m not happy about them, but he's in my son's room, which is next to the kitchen, so I was assuming they were coming into the kitchen somehow. How can I get rid of them? I haven't noticed any bites or sores on him. Why would they want to get in there anyway? Maybe I should put a Venus Fly Trap in there with him....

i would use anti mite traps for birds, they should be effective on ants as well as mites, you should probably read their label thoug. this would go next to the cage. the venus trap is good idea but with no personal experience with venus traps i would not know if there is a problem with them eating ants. i would also get ant traps for next to the cage. an exterminator will help. cleaning out the cage and keeping clean of any food source will also help. ants cant cross water so some sort of water barrier or "moat" could help too, bu this is probably the least efficient because water left out can develop a mucous on top that ants may be able to cross. good luck and keep us updated.
