leopard gecko wont eat

cai-man Sep 28, 2005 09:52 AM

I have a 3 1/4" leopard gecko that doesnt seem to be eating. He looks too thin, thin tail. The other two geckos in the enclosure eat well and are excited to eat. He generally is just standing around stiff looking with eyes closed. Its been going on for about a week and im getting nervous.

I'd try seperting him from the others and see if he perks up. He may just be intimidated by the other ones.

Maybe you need to get a fecal done, whenever they do not eat, are lethargic,/eyes closed it's time to check them out, may have worms, I also would do what sneakypete suggested , and seperate him.

Hope he perks up soon, let us know!

Hi Eve, I happen to be babysittin' a Leo that's a long term captive. She's gone off her feed lately and is like you said, lethargic, layin' around with her eyes half closed. I assumed she was just soakin' up heat from the UTH. Do Leos go off feed during certain times of the year? Are worms a problem with LTC's? Is that something I should get checked on a regular basis? Questions, questions, questions!! Guess if I'm gonna be keepin' her I should read up on em eh? Thanks for any help you might be.

You have LTC/ or Cb they still can get parasites from the feeders we give them, ever know that? Crickets , bugs , worms,

So actually they should be checked once in a while.
But one of the first things to check when a lizard is acting lethargic/ not eating , are the temeratures in the enclosure. Make sure they are were they should be.

If temps and lighting are fine. Then parasites/worms is another thing to have checked.

Yeah Quig, if your keeping the lady leopard , than your right READ up , LOL

Hope she perks up for ya

Hi Eve, Yup I was aware that they could pick up bugs from the bugs we feed em, and I do feed wild crickets when the pet shop is short. Probably should start settin' up appts. fer me AFTs too then . Just to be safe. And Yes'm I have been readin' up on the Leos.
