One of my flourescent light fixtures started humming really loud the other day. I thought it would stop but it seems to be getting worse. It's humming so loud I can hear it from another room. Is there anything I can do to fix it from humming so loud??? Also why would the humming get louder anyways?

that humming noise is because the ballist is going bad....unfortunatly, the cost of a ballest is about the same as buying the complete fixture.......
...by best advise is to note what kind of fixture you have (especially the length) and go to a lighting store....NOT home depot! home depot employees usually have no idea what you need, where as someone at a lighting store will.
