Found this little guy in New Jersey while doing a bog turtle survey when i was working for an environmental consulting company over the summer. Good to know that while they are endangered in my state, they are breeding and will hopefully make a comeback.

Awesome! You are very fortunate to have been able to see them in the wild. Do you have more pics?

Here's another picture of the same turtle. Its a shame these guys are so rare, they are really cute, and i'm more of a snake person. The company i worked for found three this summer and last summer we got hosed completely. Hopefully poaching on these guys goes down and thier numbers go up!

andrew, could you email me I'm curious about the consulting firm you worked for I'm looking to go back to school and I am just curious about what companies are in my area. I live in south jersey. Also you have no idea how extremely lucky you are to find a baby bog. I'm totally envious, my email is cjoneill12@comcast.net. Appreciate any help you can provide man thanks.

Not to insult your intelligence, but you probably know very well you must not reveal location under any circumstances. Poachers regularly loot sites in Pennsylvania.

It will be an ugly day when I come across someone taking one of these guys from the wild. I live right near bog turtle country in PA. If I ever caught someone I would make sure they couldn't do it again. I wasn't sure who your comment was directed at me or the other guy. But anyway thats my thought...

I'm not insulted at all...we have the same propblem in jersey. The same day we caught that little guy, we went to two other sites that the NJDEP had known sitings off bog turtles and found nothing because over the years they have all been poached. Two of the people i was with are certified by the state to look for turtles and i just need another summer's worth of hours, and they made it clear that the less people know the locations of the sites, the better. I just figured i'd share some pictures, but dont worry, i have no plans on giving any more info other than i found them in jersey. It really is a same that people would poach those guys to the point where they are at now.
