how does Darwin's eye look?

lele Sep 28, 2005 03:07 PM

Hi all - need aome opinions...Darwin has the dark, dark eyes of a translucent and only see a bit of color when the light is right. When he was little I noticed that his left eye looked different from his right. Today I had him out and while in the sun I noticed his odd left eye. I took some pics. Since he is the only beardie I have had I really don't have anything to compare it to. I took some of his right eye but it is hard to see. What I noticed was that he did not seem able to look back like it just wouldn't go there.

OK, tell me what you think...

Maybe partially? The third eye membrane seems to cover a part of it. He looks at me with that eye, but sometimes seems startled even if I have been there for awhile. Or it may be nothing and he is just weird with an odd eye

See how the lower lid droops a bit. I was told that is a sign of vitamin B deficiency once and it must be true because when i gave my beardies that had a droopy lower lid some b vitamins it gets rid of eye droop most of the time.
Vitamin B also can stimulate the appetite so it may help improve his eating and get him more active again.
I don't like to brumate them unless they are going to breed but that is just me. Sometimes they do it anyway just make sure he stays well hydrated if he does.

before he cut back on eating he had a wide variety of feeders: crix, silkies, superpworms, waxworms, greens, etc. He never did like the pellets. He gets dusted weekly with Herptivite - well, his feeders do. I'll see what the vet thinks on Friday.

Did you give yours Vit-b in a liquid form?

thanks for the tips! I add brewer's yeast to my cricket gutload. I did ask the vet yesterday and he said it looked OK and had no other symptoms.
