My dragon ripped out a claw and has been biting at his foot. I treated with alcohol and antibiotic ointment and he was okay for several hours but when checked on again had bitten 1/2 of his toes off on that foot. I am hesitant to wrap it. Help!

It may have been the alcohol that drove him nuts, it burns like crazy!! Try peroxide or watered down betadine instead.

Something is causing him to bit his foot, something is irritating him, either a bacteria or fungus, diluted betadine and soaking his foot in it will help for things that most people have around the home, if you have nolvasan that even better.
But you need a vet to look at this and find out why and treat it

I WOULD CALL MY VET AND ASK HIM IF YOU CAN BUY AN ORINTMENT FROM HIM.OR YOU CAN CLEAN THE WOUND REAL GOOD GET SOME NEOSPORIN AND KEEP HIM ON NEWS PAPER TIL THE WOUND HAS HEALD
Last year one of my holdbacks (Fiesty) bit off her own "thumb"! She was completely healthy, well fed, no fungus, or bacteria obviously present and no left over shed. It actually came out of no where and scared me to death. I soaked it well in betadine mixed with sterile water (diluted enough to look like tea). I then applied some triple antibiotic ointment. That same day after I cleaned it, I went back in and she had biten the rest of her "thumb" off. The first time she had only bit half off, the second time she bit the remaining piece off. I cleaned it again and watched her closely. She never did bother it again, or bite any other toes. I still have no idea why she did it! Maybe she just didnt want it anymore
Anyways, sometimes these things just happen. Keep the enclosure extremely clean and soak the foot in the diluted betadine solution and try applying antibiotic ointment the first couple days. Goodluck and keep everyone posted. LindsayMarie
I got an awesome white dragon for my birthday, she is so passive and good.... she's an adult and just took right to the household like she had been here forever.
Glad to see you here!
Fiesty is doing great. Fiesty as ever
Her and Daisy both are big compare to the new babies I kept this year! All the other dragons are doing well too. I just wish Syd was showing more improvement with her shoulder. I am going to try the therapy method we discussed and see if that helps. I might also try it with another of my dragons, who seems stiff all the time. Probably a side effect of MBD as a baby and juvie. I will let you know how it goes.
Other then that, not much new here. Cage building time is coming up. I need to have at least 4 more cages, but am thinking about converting all my older cages to the new style as well, so they all match. I am thinking of going with melamine. Thats going to be a big and costly project.
Well I am going to get going. Somehow I ended up putting myself on a night schedule and it is 8:30am and I have to be up in a few hours if we are to go to the fair today. Take care, Lindsay
