nippy baby

scootersnakes Sep 28, 2005 09:23 PM

I got a few corn babies about 10 days ago.I have them each in there own shoe box. I set them up with water dish, hides and aspen bedding and pretty much have left them alone since they have been here. I just fed them last night all but 1 out of 7 took the pinkies. I fed in a small box left them alone and most of them had eaten in less than 10 minutes. How ever I have one that will not feed and is nippy as heck. Any ideas I know the nipping will stop w/time I hope.I just dont want to lose any of the snakes. Any tips would be great!

Nippy is normal, don't worry about it.
With regular handling and time it will calm down.
Remember, when they are that small, everything larger then them is a threat. They are "programed" to survive.
As far as the feeding goes, don't be too waorried yet.
Just wait 5 to 7 days from the last attempted feeding and try again. It will probably eat. Just needs to get a little hungrier.

From everything I've read, you need to keep them in separate enclosures, as they are cannibalistic. You don't want to risk a tragedy...they happen.

Each snake is in its own shoe box. And Id like to also add all are eating and seem to be doing very well. Thanks for everyones input.
