...on this guy.
I know what I think it is and its locality, as least as it has been represented to me.

Anyone else have species and locale guesses??
Seems easy enough.
Thanks,

South Florida mole king (Lampropeltis calligaster occipitolineata) is my guess.
DeSoto Co Mole. Not Okeechobee
Later jason
dude...they really look prairie kings...i've a male and looking for a female.....why desoto????
e.tx. prarieking is my guess

...it is a Louisiana "mole snake". When I inquired about it, (without a pic) asking if it was a mole king or a prairie king, he said "it's not a king snake, it's a mole snake"
So...there you have it...
I know both have range in LA but I would expect a mole king from east LA to not have those colors (I don't know why)
and I WOULD expect a prairie king from w. LA to look just like this guy.
That's my opinion (that it is a prairie king) but to further muddy up the story/credibility...
When asked if he was bringing it to the Tampa show so I could see it, I got "Anything native to Florida cannot be sold in Florida, sorry"
So, with that much misinformation in one basket, I gave up.
