Yet another feeding question

pixiebabelove Sep 29, 2005 12:52 AM

SO I've had Tinkerbell for about 2 1/2 weeks now. I've been feeding her 3-4 thawed or live hoppers every other day or so with thawed ground turkey mixed with Miner-All I and chopped up fruits (grapes, honeydew, canteloupe) on days she doesn't get mice. The only way I get her to eat fruit is if I hide it in the turkey. Feeding varies slightly from day to day because some days she'll eat more than others and refuse food the next day.

I've offered her crickets, but she doesn't show any interest in them. Has anyone tried hornworms? My friends have switched their bearded dragons over to these and so far have had great results. I've also been thinking about roaches, but my mom would freak out and maybe disown me.

Anyways, other than the mass confusion about diet (it seems like everyone has their own different opinion on feeding BWs), Tinkerbell has been doing well. She's grown an inch or two (squirmy= hard to measure!) and had a full shed successfully.

She eats faaast.

Maybe try to slowly add more fruit and less meat to the mixture. I've hear of people doing that for certain other reptiles. I tried to feed my new tegu a little bit of apple today but he/she didn't eat it(may have been full since he had just gobbled up 7 crickets fairly quickly). I think I'll try to give some apple to him tommorow before I give him crickets. I remember someone telling me about how his green iguana wouldn't eat most fruits unless they were over ripe so maybe you could try that.
