Baby Mud Snake Count:

Oxyrhopus Sep 29, 2005 10:24 AM

Well it was 25 eggs that she laid. 12 Anerys hatched and 12 het anerys hatched. The last egg never hatched. The wild caught mother must have mated with a het anery father in the wild. I cut the last egg open last night and it was dead. However there was an 80 percent developed anery, which was very small, and a large portion of the egg undeveloped, which tells me there may have been a twin that never developed into anything? Either case, the babies have all shed and I am going to sex and separate them this weekend and will offer siren scented defrosted pinkies. There are a variety of sizes so I hope to have a decent sex ratio. Sorry about the flash in this shot. I tried at a number of angles but it kept appearing.

...that's a killer shot! What an amazing difference. Of course their bellies are the best part anyway.
Thanks.
