pinky pump question?

kfisher29 Sep 29, 2005 12:23 PM

When using a pinky pump do you have to pull a Jeffrey Dahmer and chop the pinkies into tiny peices before putting them in the pump or do you just thaw the pinkies out and stick them in there whole? Can't wait. Thanks for any info. Kevin

You don't have to cut them up but you should be very careful when using it. I always depress the plunger to "break the seal" a bit before inserting the tube into the snake's mouth. I've had instances in the past where I've had to really push the plunger to get it to depress and then it "shoots" the contents into the snake. Does that make sense? It can be dangerous for a small snake. But if you let the plunger and the grate sort of start to puree it, it will go down a lot smoother and gentler. Hope that helps.

When you bring up Dahmer you got me worried. You do know we mean baby mice when we say pinkies. Human fingures are not healthy for snakes. At least I don't think they are????

No human fingers involved. LOL I used the Jeffrey Dahmer thing referring to the grotesque scenario involved with this pinky pump but I'm all for it to get some baby snakes going. Kevin
