The trouble with breeding Brazilian Rainbows

Jeff Clark Sep 29, 2005 02:47 PM

...My biggest problem with breeding Brazilian Rainbow Boas is that I cannot keep every one of them that I produce. If you produce enough of them you will see babies that are pale like this and you just have to wonder what it will look like as an adult. Better keep this one to see how it turns out. Besides, if it were to get into the hands of some greedy morph worshipping person they would call it a pale peach albino or something and want to sell it for a bazillian dollars. Yep,
I better keep this one just to protect the market.

And some of them just seem to have so much personality that you could just not imagine letting them go live somewhere else. I better keep this one too.

And some of them have so much dark pigment that you cannot imagine how cruel it would be to sell them to someone who would not appreciate their inner beauty. Besides, if it got into the hands of one of them evil morph worshippers they might call it a charcoal phase anerythristic and want a bazillian dollars for it. I better keep this one. Just to protect the market.

And some of them have really nice big fat crescents and you know I love them crescents. I better keep this one too.

And some of them seem to get along so well with their siblings. It would be a crime to break up a family. I better keep these too.

We used to have TGIF funny posts over on the Boa Forum. I have finished my work week and I am so tired I cannot think a serious thought so this is my Rainbow Boa TGIF post a day early.
Life is good!
Jeff

Very good looking group of babies. Don't call me if you run out of room for all the new keepers, I filled up everything last year. That was before this years keepers got added to it. I've got room for another cage stack so I'll be ok for now but next year uh oh!!

....especially the part about breaking up families, I can clearly see the LOVE in the eyes of those siblings. Better keep them well fed so they don't eat eachother.

I am not certain of the species, but it has outstanding dorsal patterns and a "keen" eye.

.....and I should mention that I paid top dollar for this hand-crafted Fimo clay figure. I couldn't resist it. The pics just don't do it justice!
