Adopted WTF

I just wanted to tell everyone about a new WTF I aquired last night. I was in a local PetCo, looking at the herps, when I noticed a very bad off frog. I asked an employee if they had any others ( I really wanted a new WTF ). He opened the encloser, and of course, it was the only one. I pointed out that it looked very dehidrated and malnurished, and when he removed it, we noticed sores on his lips and leg. I told the man that if he could give me a discount, I would take him home, and revive him. They ended up giving me him for free. I purchaced a "Reptile Emergency Aid" make by Flukers, and it seems to be helping all ready. It is a powder mixture that you mix with warm water, and syringe feed according to the weight of the herp. Picasso ( his new name ) has had 3 dosings, and is already opening his mouth, with NO trouble, and swallowing like a good boy! I also have been applying Neosporin to his wounds. I do know to be careful not to cover the nostrils, I have had experienced the sores on the lips before, and know what I am doing. I am SO excited, I just KNOW he will pull out of this, and become the PERFECT cagemate for my 3 year old WTF, Pheobe. I just hope that she won't eat him! I plan on putting a aquarium seperator in my 20 gal. long, and gradually intorducing them. Pheobe is weird, and only uses one half of her cage, so I know there will be enough room. Well, I just wanted to share my good news to my fellow frog lovers!!!

Congratulations on your new family member. I hope he pulls through. Just a word of caution, don't get your hopes up too high. I don't mean to sound cruel. I do the exact same thing, and when something bad happens, I'm crushed. But I will be pulling for Picassos speedy recovery.

Congratulations on your new frog and I have faith that it will get much better. However, I would like to point out a couple of things. One, make sure to keep the frogs apart for a good while, especially since it has been obviously sick. Also, if you have another Whites in the 20, I don't think it's fair to split the tank in half. The Whites would probably need more height to a 20 long, anyway, so maybe you can figure out a way of making it larger to fit them both in there if the sick one gets better and you can make sure it is parasite free and all that.

Well, good luck with your frog and it's great to hear that you didn't purchase it, since it would only encourage some of these pet store's bad behavior. It's also great that someone is finally taking care of this frog!

I don't know about those products or anything, or very much about Whites, either, but some of the other people on here can probably give you further advice that I really hope you take to heart, because it will only be the best (from what I've learned ). We all want the best for these animals!
