Most of the beardies have names and the turtles have names as well as the cats. I usually like to let my friends name some of the animals. they really appreciate it and usually develope a bond with what ever animal they name. Anyone have suggestions Im all ears!

As you know Nathan I love Fennec Foxes and when and if I ever move out of Cali I will have one.

Your room reminds me of my room growing up. Aquariums everywhere, furry and scaly animals running around everywhere, and all completely organized. Mine came fully loaded with Sisters that would attempt to venture in until I pulled out my Monitors then it was all over. Anyways take it easy and have fun at NARBC.

Wow impressive collection of animals!

So how are your beardies housed, together or in separate enclosures?

Myself atm i've managed to get it down to:

1.0.0 Staffordshire Bull Terrier

1.0.0 Mali Uromastyx

1.0.0 Baby Beardie

1.0.0 Tangerine Honduran Milksnake

1.0.0 Beta

lovemybeardies Sep 29, 2005 07:50 PM

Lets see here....
4.5 beardies
0.1 Iguana..Lucy
1.0 Mallucan cockatoo...Dudley
1.1 Austrillian Shepards...Tia & Pheonix
1.0 German shepard...Aero
175 and counting rabbits...My mom raises them and shows them, she's the crazy one not me

Now this is my work and I consider them partially mine since myself and one other person take care of them & they are baies too.
4 ball pythons
2 sand boas... they are cute little things
3.3 bearies
3 uros
2.1 blue tongue skinks
0.1 iguana
2 tokay geckos... the meanest reptile alive
0.0.1 savanah monitor
2 poison dart frogs
3 native tree frogs
3 whites tree frogs
to many to count hissing cockroachs
9 salcata tortioses
2 leopard tortioses
5 house cats

p.s. To Nathan, we use to have sugar gliders and if you get them as babies and handle them alot they make great pets.
Also someone wrote about having sun conures, just wanted to know how you liked them. I was really thinking about getting a Jenday conure. How much did you pay for the sun conure? The pet store is asking 500 for the conure I am looking at I heard you can get them for much cheaper.
Cara

nathan23 Sep 29, 2005 07:56 PM

I house all my beardies seperate except when breeding and when raising babies.

Cara I used to breed sugar gliders. they are awesome and from down under which is even better! I will be getting one from a friend who doesnt want her anymore.

Also sun conures and jendays are cool but they are VERY VERY VERY noisy!!!!! Even if youre in the room with them they are noisy, and especially when you leave the room.

I'll try to take a pic of my bedroom later tonight after i straigten it up a bit(90% of the animals are kept in my bedroom!)

peace,
nate

lovemybeardies Sep 29, 2005 08:03 PM

Yah I heard they are noisy. The one I held did kind of a loud constant chirping noise. I could deal w/ that. Nothing could compare to my cockatoo. When he wants to I am sure people can hear him a mile away. It is horrible!! Thanks for the info though, I am still deciding. And I hope you have a big room!!! Cara

nathan23 Sep 29, 2005 08:06 PM

Before we moved in my bedroom was a walk in closet! they tore the wall down and moved it over a few feet. Very small but organized well.

I forgot you mentioned the cocatoo. I used to hand feed all the parrots at one of the shops i worked at. I had a quaker. Green cheaks are small and quiet. Not to mention they look like little falcons. And the suns are way better looking then a jenday. (just my opinion though)

peace,
nate

lovemybeardies Sep 30, 2005 10:50 AM

We had a quaker. Hand raised it as a baby. It was o.k. for like the first year and then it turned into a little devil bird. Charged everyone. His name was Oats. Cute huh. But eventually we couldn't do anything w/ her and gave her to a breeder. Needless to say I will never get another one. And those foxes are adorable!! Cara

nathan23 Sep 29, 2005 08:46 PM

Its my little slice of heaven! Every where i look I am surrounded by what i love.

The room is going to get a remodel with 4 new 4 ft cages! Got to make room for all the new dragons!

These pics dont show all the live plants I have growing all over my room. I have orchids and cactus growing ontop of my tv and tropical plants on a shelf at the foor of my bed. Its like paradise! I even get the cricket chirps at night, lol.(which I could do without!)

Have you had foxes before or are you getting your first one? Wondering if they make good pets, im in love with them. their hair looks liek it might bother my allergys though.
are they social?
can they be tuaght to use the bathroom outside or in a little box?

nathan23 Sep 29, 2005 08:55 PM

My best friend and I breed them. We have five right now. Females are ok together and with one male. More then one male will cause problems. They ussually dont get potty trained. But because they are desert foxs they dont urinate often and they dont smell at all. They are absolutly a blast to play with though! Should have another litter in the next month or two. the babies get pulled from the mom then its around the clock care. So far we havent sold any babies. We keep them all! Its really hard to let them go after you raise them from birth. we should sell the next litter it will fund our dragons, males go for $1000 females$1500. heres a pic of an adult and a pic of new borns.

Wow they are really something else.. Pretty neat Nate.. if only I had a larger place hehe. By the way your bedroom looks very similar to my living room..Well, bedroom too LMAO.. 12 feet of floor to ceiling 6ft cages, plus a 15 bin baby rack is my main entertainment in the living room LOL. In the bedroom I have multiple display cages with mostly every color/morph of corn snake there is.. Moving in May to a new place that can accommodates my new and growing Boa/ball collection. Who needs a big screen TV?? You should see the dragons I should be getting in the next couple days.. SWEET...SMOKING!!! I'll share pics in email when they arrive.

but I have never noticed any shedding or dander. So for people with allergies I dont think there would be a problem.

Anyone in southeaster mi that wants to come play with the fixs , you are more then welcome.

Willhayward Sep 30, 2005 12:52 PM

I ask because I am extremely allergic to most real animal furs.

I have a dog, but he is a Giant Snchauzer which has wirey human like hair, rather than soft fur.

I couldnt find any info on their hair types.

What do you feed them?
