problem cage to heat..Need help

cee4 Sep 29, 2005 06:11 PM

Okay I have this cage I built right onto a shelf..The back wall is the house wall and the floor is the shelfboard(4x2x2).I built it originally for a bearded dragon but it now houses two corns(I know its not permanent)Anyway I use an overhead ceramic heater and Im not really sure this is working, I worry there is no belly heat..The shelf board is thick and a UTH would not work..What can I do?

I thought about putting a thin board over a UTH on the bottom.Would this work?

Well there are several thing you can do

1) Use flexwatt in the cage and seal it with plexiglass and silicone

2) Use a kane or T-rex cobra heat mat inside the cage

3) use a radient heat panel

I woudl probably go with the Cobra UTH as that will be your most cost efficitive for this application and the easiect to install...

I use a cobra after I threw my zoo med pad in the garbage and love it. Mine is under the tank but its safe to put in the cage without a temp controller it runs a steady warm temp not burn hot as you know since you suggested it.

You should really have some type of temp controller on ther just to be safe.. Just a thought
