the green dot

jeune18 Sep 29, 2005 06:56 PM

a while back i posted that gertie had a green dot on her head that gets brighter as she gets hotter and the babies have it also. i noticed that walter has it too so now i am wondering if anyone else's greenish lizards have green dots on their heads. the dots are all in the same spot. she wasn't very warm in the pic but i drew a nice little arrow to the spot with my great paint software skills

Hello,
I believe that the dot is a sensor. It senses how long it is light so they know when it is getting late in the year and time to brumate. I think all lizards have them, and I think snakes do too, and probably all reptiles. Some lizards actually have a hole in the top of their skull were that scale is. I think my lizards is the same color as their heads.

i know about the third eye but i guess i thought something else was the third eye. i thought the third eye was on the front side of their heads between their eyes. i will try to get a pic of what i thought was the third eye, so you can get a laugh out of it.
i wonder why i can't see one on ivan and kaiser. i will have to look again
