THE WESSEX SCENE (Southampton, UK) 28 September 05 It's raining cats and frogs at university
Iguanas top the list of favourite pets at university, according to an online poll.
Specialist online student insurer Cover4Students polled over 1,000 student pet-owners on their choice of campus pet.
Rats, snakes and frogs beat cats and dogs as undergraduates' choice pet. The top ten were:
1) Iguanas
2) Rats
3) Fish
4) Hamsters
5) Snakes
6) Gerbils
7) Mice
8) Frogs
9) Dogs
10) Cats
Martin Nugent at Cover4Students said sneaky students smuggle exotic pets on campus:
"It's not surprising. Snakes and rats can be slipped onto campus and into halls of residence but cats and dogs which are banned from many universities are easily spotted."
