I need some help

Grunngg Sep 29, 2005 07:49 PM

I would like to get a reptile/amphibian for a pet but I don't know what to get. I'm looking for something mid-sized, that can live fine in a 10gal tank as a juvenile but will get bigger. but not to big, i want it to comfortably live in a 30gal tank.
Also, I want it to be slow moving and relativly active. And tolerates slight handling (for easier tank cleaning)
No snakes, and whatever it is i dont want to have to feed it anything alive besides small insects and feeder fish.
i'd like it to be more land based.
One last thing, i'd rather it not be overly expensive. Thanks for your help.

depending on the setup(desert, aquatic, semi-aquatic, tropical forest) there are many options for you. in that order they could go leopard gecko, african clawed frog, fire belly toad, and treefrog/crested gecko. there are many other options for all of these. if you like one more than another let me know and i can list more. also some of these can be with other species, especially in a 30 gallon. some of these are not too active, most reptiles and amphibians move for food and thats about it. the african clawd frogs are the most active out of all of these in my experience. none of these require more than crickets or pellets, the crested gecko will actually eat baby food. if any of these spike your interest let me know.
