Black spots.

My 4 month old male Veiled chameleon has been doing great. He is housed in a 3'w x 3'd x 5't cage at around 80% humidity at all times. Temps usually stay in the lower 80's and he has a basking spot that is around 85 degrees. The problem is, I have noticed after his last shed that he has black spots on his casque but they are only in one area and never go away. Also, the outter area of his head is grey but his face area is still the same blue green color. Is any of this cause for concern or is he just a growing boy? I'll try to get some pics if he cooperates with me, which is doubtful.

The grey area could be a burn, or some built up layers of old unshed skin. A pic would really help. As chams get older they don't always shed everyplace at the same time. Places that are less flexible (like the casque, top of the face, or along the spine) can retain sheds. If the black spots are tiny, about the size of a skin scale they may be old scabs from something or natural pigmented spots. If they are larger, more like patches, there may be a skin fungal or bacterial infection.
