Juvenile will not eat, HELP

Clee421 Sep 30, 2005 11:14 AM

I have 2 juvenile females leopards. One of the females will not eat. I have seen her eat 2 times in the last 3 weeks. She is EXTREMELY skinnny, her tail is a quarter the size of the other females tail, and her body is about half the size of the others. I just moved them to a 10 gallon aquarium. How can I get her to feed? I have tried crickets, wax worms and meal worms.

Thanks

Try removing her from the other leo, give her some space to herself for a few days. Try hand feeling her wax worms, also try going to your local pet store and picking up some grasshoppers or silk worms. (These will most-likely be canned, PetSmart has them.) Was she an aggressive eater? Or was she wishy-washy about eating? Can you post a pic of her? They have access to individual hides? And moist hides as well? Please let me know as much information as you can. I will talk to some of my colleges and we'll try to save her.

I agree witht aking her out of the same tank. If she is not activly hunting her food, or just not as fast as the other one she will not get as much food. I have had to do this with two of my four of my gekos so far. Sorry I can't be more help than this.

I have since moved her to her own aquarium. She was never an agressive eater. I have only seen her eat twice since the time I received her about a month ago. I have tried hand feeding, but she only shys away. I have 2 hides in her home now, a moist one was just added as I have just learned of these for leopards, before I simply misted water over them. Do I add the moist hideout on the heated side of the cage??

I truly appreciate your help. I cannot get a pic to show up so I will send it through e-mail

Thanks

Chris

Have you had a fecal exam done by a vet? If she has parasites, she may not eat. Also, if she is impacted, she will not eat. For remedies you could try the drgecko website. Once you make sure she isnt impacted or has parasites, feed her by hand. Just grip the cricket by a back leg and hold it in front of her.
