burmking Jul 20, 2003 12:39 AM

I got aspen bedding today, I just wanted to make sure if that is good for my burm and also what to do when he soils it if i have to replace all of it and how to clean it ??

Also is it okay to put my thero controlled hear rock back in there on those shavings? And the same thing about my heating pad that is undercage but I have a reptarium so I have carpet on top of it and on bottom. Does Aspen help to raise humidity?

Aspen is a drying substrate. You should sort of be able to scoop it when it gets dirty. The one downside is that if he eats directly on it you may end up picking bits of it out of his mouth. Pretty decent stuff otherwise, although I think it would eventually get too expensive for a large snake.

I try to keep my enclosure as simple as possible. I use no bedding because I kind of controll my girls bathroom habits by soaking her when soaked they almost always seem to go.When your snake gets size you will see that they make alot of mess. Burms are very lazy and don't have a need for what most people want to have in there cages, no need for trees I even feel that there is not much need for a hiding spot. The more simple you keep it the more space they have and the less cleanup you have.
