What do you think of these?

This is our new line of cages we've been developing.. They are 48"X 24"X 14" HDPE (high density ployethelene) 1/4 inch thick, true 90 degree (non radius bends) The heat bent body of the cage wraps the ends (that seat into routed groves) and then the seams are plastic welded (not that they need to be...LOL...) All of the hinges and turnbuttons are black to match, and there are no strange angles or weld beads inside on the floor to have to clean around. This is 2 stacked Looking for some opinions.

Thanks, Ed

Looks good. Why did you abandon the Sintra w/PVC angle design? I'm guessing much to labor intensive for a retail operation?

Some questions...

>>They are 48"X 24"X 14" HDPE (high density ployethelene) 1/4 inch thick...

How much do they weigh?

>>The heat bent body of the cage wraps the ends...

Do you mean the main body of the cage wraps the side panels? And then you only thermal weld from the outside?

Do you do anything to keep moisture/debris out of that routed groove?

We changed the design to make them both faster to build and stronger, the HDPE is A LOT stronger than the PVCX

About 25 pounds, we wern't shooting for light weight but stength, I've had boas pull the lighter cages right off of a stack..

Yes the body of the cage wraps the side panels, the side panels are seated in arouted groove all the way around.

The groove is tight, but there is just a bit of silicone in the groove for that reason. enought to keep urine from getting in to the cracks but not enough to leave a bead of it inside the corner.

i like that wrap around design. i built a cage like that during the research and developement phase of our cages (out nov 05.) the only reason we didnt go with that design was that i was scared to death of having to churn out a ton of those at once by hand. i also agree with your HDPE use instead of pvc, i was quite dissapointed with the pvc's strength. i think HDPE will work out well for you.
Good luck in your endeavors i hope it goes great!

We've got a little somthing different for a bending system so it goes quite fast.. Completly modified the benders, and the way they work.. I'd love to tell you how we did it, because it was difficult to make, but that would give up what makes these different...LOL... and no you can't see it buy looking at one

Thanks, Ed
