weird orange/red spots on beardie

deedle_dum Sep 30, 2005 05:11 PM

he has tiny orangey redish spots on his belly, legs, and the underside of his tail. he's in a tank with a log with bark on it and two tree bits, the substrate is calci-sand and we were wondering if maybe some of the materials in his tank were cutting him? all of these items were bought at the pet store, they were'nt found outside or anything...i thought maybe he has mites or something? anybody know what it could be??

Are the little spots moving at all? What color of sand do you use? (though would recommend getting rid of the calci sand, it is not digestable at all). A picture of the spots would be better to get an ideal if it's just dirt or staining from the bark.

Yeah, I just bought a BD a few days ago. All is well, he's 23 cm long and ate 7 crickets and some greens today - it's only 2:30 pm!

Anyway, I am a little concerned about some orange coloration I've noticed. The first I noticed was a spot under his chin, but it looked more like sand from the pet store stuck there. Today though, I noticed some orange tinge developing around his ears aswell.

I'd post some pics but I'm not sure how... Anyway, I'll watch him and post any developments. Meanwhile, if any of you have heard of anything like this I'd love to hear from you.
