V. indicus (for those who can appreciate them)

JPsShadow Sep 30, 2005 05:53 PM

Took a few pictures of my indicus today.

This female was a little nervous of the camera.

Wasn't to long then this one decided to come investigate.

They are very used to me and don't mind my presence. But they do have distinct and different personalities. While one is more bold and curious, the other stands its ground and displays to the camera.

Here are some pictures of my newest little ones, hopefully they end up being a pair. These are a different locality and that is why the color is so different between them and my original group.

That is so awesome. I love indicus. I almost bought those baby indicus from Ben. They were BEAUTIFUL! Good luck with them. So I hear you live in Florida? What part of Florida. Im in West Palm Beach.

Had a few people tell me they almost got them. I can't believe none of you did if you seen them in person. Thats all it took for me.

I am just north of you in PSL.

Like I said before, beautiful monitors! I'm glad to see more post on indicus. It doesn't seem like there are too many indicus owners out there.

You are right it is not often I see posts about indicus. I have had my trio of solomons for awhile now. Guess I must not post enough about them. Maybe between the two of us we can get the other indicus keepers to come out of the wood work. I know there are more that have posted on here before.

BTW do you think my new little indicus look like the type found on guam? By chance have you seen the ones on mariana islands? The pictures I have seen they look very simular to the ones from guam.

Take care

The picture of your little one does look similar to the ones found on Guam. You can actually transport them from Guam to the mainland without any paperwork (US to US) or at least you were able to. I had the Guam Department of Aquatics and Wildlife write a letter of origin for me just in case there was any trouble, but it was not needed. They gave me a hatchling when I departed Guam in 1991.

Hi Jody!
I love indicus. Really beautiful. Did your's are Houdini? I never lost any lizard in my house, even my little furious blackhead. But with mangrove, it's another story. I loose them for a few days at least once a month. Always my fault but every time they get the chance, they escape and, escade and escape again.

Thanks, yes I have had one get out on me before. They like to try and escape but I have found all monitors to be that way. if they get the chance and know it watch out they won't think twice.

I haven't had that problem for awhile hopefully i will keep it that way and they will now stay enclosed.
