Just put a big male in with Sunshine for the first time!
Man I'm nervous for her!!! LOL
I'm going to watch them, but I don't know if I'll leave em together over night. I don't want to end up with one full snake.
Hopefully they hook up.

Yeah, that's the only thing that scares me about these guys. Do you sit there and watch or do you leave the room and hope you have two snakes when you go back in? I am about a month away from putting them together, in the meantime I am feeding them well.
The first time I bred YT's it was a different pair. The male in that pair was super docile with people and the female so I didn't worry much. I did watch them as much as possible just to see if I could catch them tie. I did leave them together all of the time afterwards even after the breeding season.
This pair, I put them together and watched for about 20 minutes. She was aware of him and cautious and he was exploring her cage smelling around and then he noticed her. They didn't interact and I left the room. I came back in and startled the male. He struck at the glass and they both went nuts flying around the cage!
He is super aggressive!!! I left them in together for 4 hours and just seperated them. I'll try again in the a.m. and watch them for a longer time.
I don't trust him!
Does it matter who you put in who's cage? I thought I read somewhere to introduce the female to the male's cage. Good luck with your pairing!
I don't know if it makes a difference. Before I put the male in the females cage and I did the same this time. Her smell is all over the cage so I figured it would stimulate him more.
I did seperate them last night by taking the female out of her cage so I'll be introducing her to him in her own cage today.
I doubt that Satanic beast of a male you have will eat Sunshine, as you keep him well fed. Should they copulate successfully, you should produce some stunning babies and I, for one, cannot wait to see them.
This should be a good year for YT’s as your pairing of Satan and Sunshine will produce some stunners, as should my pairing of a Don Bordner male to a Jurgen Schultz female and Don will certainly have some amazing babies to show for his efforts, should we all have a successful season.
Good luck,
Jeff

Thank you Jeff!
I don't know if they hooked up yet, but everytime I look she is out of the hid and he's in it. I'll have to put another box in there. I haven't been watching them.
My new female came in today. Yellow head dark gray body and very long yellow tail, more than half the snake is yellow. She's a little less than 3 feet long.
I love that YT you have in the post.
Don produced some of the nicest YT's I've seen. I'd say his and Dr. Phils have the most yellow.
Godd Luck!
I was eyeballing that smaller female for a while, but I'm glad to hear you got her, as I am female heavy with the YT's right now and need another male.
The YT in the photo was the male I acquired from Don back in '03 and the one I have paired up with the Jurgen Schultz female. I thought he could be a bit young at first, but he's well over 7' and I saw them lock up twice.
I wouldn't worry about not seeing them lock up, as I have yet to see my rubidus lock up, but they certainly have, unless all of the offspring they produced were the result of a parthenogenic event, but that would have made it impossible to get both males and females.
Post some photos of the new girl, should you get the chance, as teh photos from the add didn't do her justice..
