One of my big 04s.......

Nokturnel Tom Sep 30, 2005 10:09 PM

Here's the second female in the 007 project. She is plump as can be in the pic as she just ate the day before. Her sister is longer, and ate a good bit more than she did. They are in the same rack, their temp gradient is the same. However this one was getting too thick, so I fed her a little less til she grew a bit more in length. Now she does indeed eat even more and she wears it well. I can tell you this, by tomorrow I will have a nice pile of caca to clean. And even if I do not feed her again for a while she will crap again afew days after that and the look perfect. As I mentioned in the previous post I mess with temps when I feel it helps the snake be a happier snake. But this particular snake did not need anything but a little more time to catch up to her sisters size. They're both about 4 foot at one year old, but the sister has been 4 foot for amonth or longer already, anyway I love these Brooksi and most of mine grow at light speed....which is cool Tom Stevens

thats a big snake!esp. for an '04! i can see yellow but not that YALLOW that i associate with the "term" brooksi so much as floridana which of course IS brooksi,(some actually beleive brooksi is its own ssp.) i guess im thinkin that bright yellowyellow(hypo?)as brooksi and it is actually just a morph. irregardless of the muddled mess of ssp. names in fla.getula thats a nice lookin snake.,,whats 007???NEON,,im hoping for big things from these 2 next summer!,,,,,,thomas

Hey Thomas, ya know those Corn snake pics Kathy Love does with all the morphs lined up side by side? I wish I could do that with my Brooksi and have my Floridana in the middle for comparison. They vary in yellow and intensity of the yellow. The pic I just posted is dark, it is not the yellowest, but any which way I still think it's Brooksi. Even if it aint it is a very nice looker ttyl Tom Stevens

This is one of my '04's . I took this one out after reading this thread and she measured 42 3/4".

I have several '04's that are around this size and have raised them like this for years. They got big because I chose to grow them up fast. I don't do this with all my snakes. Just the ones I WANT to raise up fast.

That is a truck tire she is hanging from:

I hear ya Rainer. If I see a hatchling has the potential to get huge fast i am all about doing it. If I get the feeling I should not do it, I simply do not and concentrate on the ones I want, or need to grow up fast asap that react well to a ton of meals. I had a few of the snakes in the White Sided Speck project regurge. Therefor it was not meant to be so I let them eat as much as they wanted and made sure the had adequate time to digest and be hungry again. I think some people envision guys like us throwing in mice every other day or something for sub adults. I do that with pinky eaters sometimes, but it is easy to see when enough is enough when offering any snake its meals. Tom Stevens

I hear what your saying about contnued feeding once they pass a certain size. You can see in the pic I posted of the '04 above that she is not fat and does not have a meals in her. Matter of fact I have not fed her for a week. Now I have some '04 chocolate calif kings that I have been concentrating on and stiill feeding but they just seem to have a high metabolism even though I have probably few them nmore than any of my eastern varieties.

Man I gotta post updated pics of my hypo eastern x brooksi. She is huge now. One pretty looking snake that the pics don't justice.

Gee thanks for the compliments on my snake Zenny. Its nice to hear others appreciate what I see in them.

I wish i would have produced more of the sulfur lav's this year but as you know the female got eggbound (still is)but I will have other females to go next spring. Oh and you should see how nice the sulfur snows turned out. They are close to this size as well and are purple and yellow. Best looking snows I have seen. I will take a pic next week and post.
