Update

specialk6952 Sep 30, 2005 11:02 PM

Well, my 2 male veileds are getting bigger, but the female is not doing so well, I honestly don't think she's gonna make it. The guy I bought them from obviously wasn't informed on chams. For one, he told me they could turn blue, which they do turn kinda turquois but other than that...he also believe the misconception that chams turn to the color of their background....dummy. Anyway, it's time to separate them from each other. Yoda was hissing at Obi today. So they are now entering their solitaire attitude. LOL Going to buy some wood and screening tomorrow to build them their own little enclosures for now. Will get new pics tomorrow and post them.

Glad to hear your males are growing well, but hate to hear your girl isn't doing so well. What seems to be wrong with her? Perhaps she just needs her own space too.

I bought mine from this place called 7 Mile Fair....I live in South Milwaukee, WI....the place is in Caledonia, WI. It's mostly like one big rummage sale.

She has little black splotches on her and half the time she looks like she's dead and I have to wave my hand around to make sure she's still alive and she's not eating. She's so very tiny. She hasn't grown at all since I got her, and that was in June or July I think. Where as the males have probably doubled and tripled in size since I got them. I've offered her pinheads and even offered her a baby wax worm because they were soft. She ate one and was looking good for awhile then went back to looking not so great. I'm gonna separate them all, make some smaller screen cages for them for now til they get too big then upgrade again.

Katie,

I purchased a very young veiled chameleon from a pet shop that was sold to me as a "deffinate" male. "HE" turned out to be a female, and because of unproper care and husbandry of my little chameleons perents, she had alot of health issues. She grew a little, but then stopped her growth all-together. I sheduled a vet appounment, took her in, and the diagnosis wasnt too good. Becuase of inproper care previous to her purchase, she didnt have proper nutrients to grow correctly, thus not growing at all. There was no treatment, and she ended up passing 9 weeks later.

That's very good that both of your males are getting healthy and big, but thats really too bad about your female. Im real sorry, and please give us updates on how she's doing. Hope your little girl pulls through.

Best of luck, Michele

She was doing great since I got her eating like a little pig but not really growing... then came time for her to shed and I don't know if that had an effect on her or what, but she's been pretty sickly looking since except for those couple days after eating the wax worm.....

I've seen both males now display beautiful colors....Obi is the bigger of the 2 males and I saw him display about a month ago...neither of the males are very fond of my digital camera...LOL Hissing and gaping and what not.... The other day I was sitting in my room (that is where they are kept) and I heard hissing and went to see what all the fuss was about....there is Yoda (he's a tad smaller than Obi) displaying his anger towards Obi being near him. That's when I decided it was high time I need to get them separate cages. I will upload some pics right now so everyone can see Obi and Yoda.
