My last clutch of 05 is hatching, time to unplug the incubator

Nokturnel Tom Sep 30, 2005 11:23 PM

Well I have produced Southern Pines for the 4th year now. My adults are patternless and definite het Amel. I have produced normal blotched, normal patternless, and Amel patternless. This year I am a bit bummed because I had 11 eggs, which turned out to be all normal blotched and normal patternless except for one. However it is kinda neat this is the first blotched Amel this pair produced. I will snap pics of the entire clutch soon, as there is a lot of variation within them. Tom Stevens

Hey Tom!
Looking great! I'm interested in seeing pics of those babies once they've shed. I love all the Pines! I have a patternless male yearling het for snow, and a snow female. Snow used to have such a nasty temper too, but now she's so mellow!
Again, congrats on the hatch!

Thanks Russel. I will be posting plenty of pics of these guys. This is a very variable clutch. I actually bought the adult pair as hatchlings from Bob Clark years back. He was kind of shocked that out of all of his killer Pythons the thing on his table that made me flip was the Pits LOL. The mother is a good solid 6 footer, and is very handleable. ttyl Tom Stevens

LOL, I just showed my brother in law those snakes as they are not fully emerged. He freaked over the size of the eggs. The were about 3 and a half inches long, 4 inches max. I tell you I love all colubrids, but baby Kings Corns and especially Milks can be a pain to handle. Baby Pits are so much larger, and usually much slower and predictable...they're a lot more fun to play with. I was going through 05 babies last night for fun, I was holding a Blizzard Sonoran from clutch 1. Thinking to myself how much I love these things...I may have to hold back a snake or 3 this year Tom Stevens

Nice!!! That amel is cool. Gotta love those pines. My southerns hatched on 9/10/05 and were just over 20 inches when out of the egg. My wife could not believe it and had to see them coming out for herself. The eggs were all just over 4 inches in length.
