SNOWS turn Yellow hmmm how bout the opposite an albino turned white! WHITE ALBINO>>>>>

STUART Jul 20, 2003 02:53 AM

Ok last time I posted a picture of this guy people were like "Oh dude thats a normal albino" yea right lol. Ive never seen albino with snow white sides. Ok heres the deal. This fellow is 2 years old. About 6 months ago he decided he didnt like being HIS AMAZING CORAL SELF and he said I think I want to be WHITE! So he started shedding and each shed he got lighter and lighter till this side was completely WHITE! Now his yellow is fading its so light. Everytime I take photos they get all washed out, the yellow pings off the white or something. So I tossed him in with a "normal" yellow albino so you can see the contrast! Look MA IM TURNING WHITE hes on top. I told you Im not joking. This albino is turning white! And his yellow is so light and fading at this rate he will be entirely WHITE by the end of the year. And if thats true then he has made himself the REAL SNOW BOA LOL. This is no joke. I had to hold him in place in front of the other albino cause hes squirmy. Ever tried to hold two snakes and take a pic! Any how this is the best I could get all the others the flash goes to bright and fades him out.

This is NOT THE BELLY this is his side!!! I let both the albinos crawl out and then snapped a contrast comparison picture you can see the other snake is yellow and the one in front is WHITE well his side is white the neck and the back are slowly getting there as well as the other side which is fading this side is white all the way to the tip of the tail. These are all the pictures youll see until he has completely changed.

It looks to me like some form of ontogenetic pigment balding,or,developmental leucism triggered presumably by a hormonal change as the animal approaches sexual maturity? because it is erasing the pattern, not just affecting the background coloration...at any rate,if it continues, you may have the very first "true snow boa"! anyone that said it looked like "normal" amelanism has probably not had much experience with developmental anomolies, the pigmentation responsible for the pattern itself is much more deeply embedded, and, therefore not easily "erased".
