I love expos!

Well, the Tampa Expo met and surpassed my expectations. After hanging around the lost world reptiles booth with a full grown white-sided black rat around me for 5 hrs, I walked around what do ya know....found exactly what I was hoping to find!

Guy was selling a possible (66%) het VPI Axanthic 04 male (appx 350gs! Paid about $5-10 more than I would have for a normal male, so I took the chance on him I'm gonna pair him up with my normal this year, and hold back the females...hopefully the ball python gods are with me on this one! I'll have pics up in a couple days.

I also grabbed a pair of '05 irian jaya carpet pythons for $150. All things considered, it's been a great weekend!

I will be there tomorrow. I hope you left me something good! Actually I will be looking for frozen feeders. Did anyone have any for sale there?

I took the trip out soley to meet someone interested in the girls I posted earlier. He decided to buy them, cash, so I figured why not go on a spree at the show lol. At Daytona I almost got sick of seeing balls, mainly because everyone had the same things at every table(pastels, yb's, spiders, etc), but Tampa was quite lacking in balls. Sure there were some but not as many as I'd have liked to see.

Here's what I hated most, at the fire show in Orlando and Daytona I picked up CB male balls for about 12-14 a piece. At Tampa, every ball was special. It was like one giant birthday party. The cheapest prices I saw for normal cb males was 40 or 45 dollars lol. "insert special name here" fancy males were all I saw.

Did wind up picking up one CH male from Ben Siegel, kinda nice pattern, no alien heads at all, lots of flames on it's back, and not really a reduced pattern. Also wound up picking up a tiny baby retic and an albino burm, typical snakes but they sell well here locally. I'll post some pics of my plain old normal ball whenever I take some.

1 guy had rodents, but he appeared to be sold out of everything except mice by noon.

I know what you mean about the balls, but what I liked was there was a good variety. The spring show had nothing but balls and collubrids. This time there was a good selection of burms, retics, carpets, amazons, ect. The only disappointment for me was the lack of GTPs and ETBs. I also saw that you really had to talk to people to find out what they really had, as a lot of people were hiding the "good" stuff. 1 guy had a very low white (maybe 10%) pied that, amazingly, is one of the best I've ever seen. There were some sweet pastels and super pastels (saw a 05 pastel male for $500), and 1 guy had a super cinny (nfs though). I was a little bummed at complete lack of axanthics (didn't see 1!)

(shameless plug time!) anybody looking at collubrids tomarrow, stop by lost world reptiles

Happy herpin tomarrow!

because it was from his own black pastel line. He was kind enought to let me get a good look at it, it was neat to see a bigger individual. The head shape becomes more apparantly different as they mature.
