Will Anyone Reply!!!!!????

I have a freind that said he had read that leos will often take fruit or veggies into their diet. Anyone heard anything about this? He tried apples, and carrots, and white corn, and said that his leos loved it...is there any harm in this? I would assume not, if it is given as a treat and not a "staple" in the diet. He used fresh friut and veggies, so there was no sugar or salt addd to these. I have also heard that baby and juvenille leos like baby food...is this correct? Again, should a leo be fed these items? Any comments or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No. Leos are insectivors...

The baby food is used in a mixture of other things for when a Leo is very sick, losing weight and not eating. Baby food should not generally be used as part of their diet.

It's not "normal" for a Leo to eat fruits & veggies, I've seen a few others say they have feed their's stuff like that. I know none of mine would eat anything like that, it doesn't move LOL I guess my thinking is, their bodies were setup by nature to digest Insects, not fruits & veggies so I myself would stick to what nature intended

I think i have the same book, i disagree with a lot of the information in that book so i dont even consider it an accurate source, leopard gecko's stomachs are made for digesting insects not fruits and veggies, i really wouldn't do it and your friend should stop even though he isnt seeing external effects.

im not an expert, but my understanding is that fruit isnt harmful.. but lacks protien which is a staple in their diet. my leo is a picky eater. only crickets and fruit. ive tried worms a few times, and he will eat them, but shortly after throws em right back up. so he gets crickets... and lots of them. 5-10 large every other day.fruit comes few and far between, but he sure loves it!
