One of the coolest un-proven females I have..any insight appreciated!

idealreptiles Oct 02, 2005 12:50 AM

She is an awesome snake that looks much better in person.
Very silvery/ghost/axanthic looking...
I have over 100 ball pythons so please don't tell me she's normal.
I know what "NORMAl" looks like.
I will be posting pics of the 8 babies she laid around 52 days ago very soon......
Looks like more then half of them are pastels! (the father)
Don't think I will be letting any of these little ones go.......

Please enlighten us with some insight as to what you are referring to.
There many posts below.
Thanks

gentlemantw0 Oct 02, 2005 09:43 AM

any of this posts asking, "is this a morph", which is a lot of them.

You are obviously very young or very dumb.
Ether way, thanks for the point in the wrong direction.
Re-read the ad, look at the pics, and try again.

gentlemantw0 Oct 02, 2005 01:31 PM

I didn't say anything offensive, but if you frequent these forums often you would notice every 3rd post is a "is this a morph" post.

Since you don't like short simple replies, let me elaborate.

Your snake looks nice, nice flames and coloration. That being said, I've seen dozens of balls like it, in fact, I have one that is strikingly familiar. You asked for no one to tell you she's a normal, because "you know what normal is", and apparently my doubts of it being anything other than a normal, hurts your feelings. You know what, maybe it is something special, I guess you'll know when all the young are hatched out, or maybe it's recessive and you'll breed her back to one of her sons to find out. See it how you want, but if you ask me, most people that own "over 100 ball pythons" wouldn't be asking if it was a morph because they'd already know. I don't know how anyone can say they know what "normal" is, because one person could never see them all.

Hope this satisfies your taste for non-short and simple, and unoffensive replies.

This is so stupid...........
Your short reply was uncalled for, insinuating that I was posting another, "is this a normal post?", when if fact I was just sharing one of my favorite "un-proven, cool looking normals," that I am sure will throw out some sweet looking animals.
I was hoping to get some pics of others with similar light silvery-looking females with awesome side blushing or just a few "great looking snake man!"
What did you expect me to reply to you with???
Maybe a "thanks so much for the nice comment?"
I have to account for the fact that it was late and you most likley didn't put much thaught in to it, but you came accross as rude.
I am not over exaggerating when I say she is unique, as I do have around 100 ball pythons and work with other breeders who have quite a bit more then I, and she is definitely different.
I have breed her two seasons in a row, last year with a het pied, and a few years from now I will know for sure.
Thanks again.

"please don't tell me it's a normal"
That's like asking someone to assure you in thinking it's the new big morph.

"Either you are very young or very stupid"
That's very assumptive on your part.

In all honesty, the snake in background looks more unusual than the featured snake, to me. My reference to the previous posts was my way of saying it looked pretty normal to me. I hope you aren't too deeply affected by this, don't go and quit the hobby when you find out is isn't any morph.

Close minded and ignorace to me is a sign of stupidity AND/OR youth............
I don't count my eggs before they hatch.....so
My hypothesis is that her babies will look nicer then normal offspring based on my observation of her looking nicer then normal.
Now I have experimented and plan to test my hypothesis by breeding her back to her offspring and hopfully hitting on the possible recessive trait...........
I have nothing to prove and don't care that many are reading this, as I would, and thinking how silly it is to argue like this on the internet.
But I speak my mind, and it feels good to laugh at people like you.

rhacbreeder Oct 02, 2005 08:58 PM

First of all without normals their would be nothing so why is it sooooo HORRIBLE to have a couple of normals laying around? Second of all, could it be possible that those "nicer than normal offspring" could just be "nice normals"? I have a black back bp, just like the het. red ax. but ya know what...he's a normal. He looks like an expensive morph but he's not. Ever see the high gold from Dave and Tracy Barker's book from a while ago? That snake is killer, looks like a YB and doesn't look like any normal I have seen yet...but it's a normal. Your snake is a killer snake, but that doesn't mean it's not normal. I am not taking sides in this childish argument, and I agree your post wasn't meant as an "is it normal" post, but when you said "don't tell me it's a normal" you turned it into an "Is it normal" post. I hope you could prove something with her so don't get me wrong, but it was an "is it normal" post. Just my 2 homemade pennies. -Joe Decareau

"Close minded and ignorace to me is a sign of stupidity AND/OR youth"

in a previous post I stated
"Your snake looks nice, nice flames and coloration. You know what, maybe it is something special, I guess you'll know when all the young are hatched out, or maybe it's recessive and you'll breed her back to one of her sons to find out."

That was open minded, and the ignorant part I don't see where you are coming from.

"I have nothing to prove and don't care that many are reading this, "

Then why'd you post it in the first place?

Like someone else said, your original post did come off as a "is this a morph" post. I looked it over, and offered you my advice.

I have no shame posting my name.

I think so too.

EmberBall Oct 02, 2005 01:28 PM

Based on the pics, I would say it is a light colored normal. What people forget is that "normal" Balls come in tons of shades, patterns, and colors. I think there might be an outside chance at an Axanthic, but who knows until you breed one of the offspring back, or breed them togather.

idealreptiles Oct 02, 2005 06:54 PM

I am leaning torwards axanthic.....will know for sure in a few years.
One thing is for sure.
Untill she proves out, she's one nice normal!

toshamc Oct 02, 2005 06:23 PM

She looks almost desert ghostish - very pretty - breed her and find out if it's genetic!!! Very nice dinkin project!

I have 2.3 50% het. for pied from last season that I heald back....all have nice "flames." and blushing.
looks like I have at least 4-5 pastels from her this season and 3-4 normals.
Still hard to tell.

nita Oct 02, 2005 09:11 PM

Very pretty, be interesting to see if she throws much. I had some of my balls out at the show this weekend in Edmonton and get a kick out of all the people asking what morph my normals are A cool dinking project for sure. The pic of the one in the egg looks like a nice pastel.

As for ones I think might be something, I personally plan to breed them to normals not morphs this way I know what the gentics are without any extra confusion.

I would have to say it is a reptile, judging by the fact it seems to have no legs I would guess it is a snake. And from the markings, size, and additional data I would say it is a ball python. Beyond that it is a very nice snake with very nice markings, I have no opinion on the morph issue.

Putting myself out on a limb is not the problem. It is the fact that I seem to always be sawing off that same limb at the time!
