chinese giant newts

I was just wondering I had thought that these amphibians were illegal to own. I was just browsing the web and saw some for sale.
Is there a difference between the salamanders and newts or are they same amphibian. Maybe this is a dumb question but I don't know too much about amphibians. Any help would be appreciated.

I would bet that they are some kind of warty newt (Paramesotriton). Certainly a Chinese giant salamander would be illegal, but I doubt that's what they are.

Newts are to salamanders what toads are to frogs. A subset, basically. For a more detailed answer, see the FAQ here:
